Restoration of normal intracardiac pressures after extensive pericardiectomy for constrictive pericarditis.

چکیده
CHRONIC constrictive pericarditis produces a characteristic clinical picture' that results from a characteristic eirculatorv alteration, namely, restriction of ventricular filling. Pericardial constriction is accompanied by typical abnormalities of right atrial and right ventricular pressure-pulse contours,2 and although the majority of patients are improved clinically after pericardiectomy, some authors2' 3 have indicated that the abuormal pressures persist postoperatively. The observation of normal right ventricular and atrial pressure tracings in four patients following pericardiectomy has led us to review cases subjected to operation in two general hospitals. This paper presents the clinieal features and preoperative and postoperative catheterizationi findings in patients with chronic constrictive pericarditis who have undergone perieardial resectionsince Dee.ember 1955, under the supervision of oiie

The influence of pericardiectomy on the hemodynamics of chronic constrictive pericarditis.
Preoperative and postoperative right heart catheterizations were performed on six patients with chronic constrictive pericarditis. Before surgery the patients characteristically showed distinct elevation of right ventricular end-diastolic, pulmonary arterial and wedge pressures. During the operation, right and left ventricular pressure curves were recorded both before and after pericardial rese...

متن کاملThe electrocardiogram in constrictive pericarditis before and after radical pericardectomy.
The electrocardiographic findings of 1 8 patients with chronic constrictive pericarditis and their progress 16 to 80 months following radical pericardectomy were studied. Atrial fibrillation, abnormal P waves, right QRS axis deviation, low QRS complex voltage in the conventional leads as well as T wave inversion, were the common preoperative electrocardiographic findings. Following radical peri...
